Kuleana is the Hawaiian word for responsibility. It can also mean ownership, authority, concern, and property.
In KULEANA, Hawaiian values battle invasive culture when a young girl, long presumed dead, reappears in 1971 Maui and joins forces with a reluctant warrior to battle her father, a businessman who conspires to own the island’s water. The childhood friends risk everything to protect thier family in the deadly confrontation, and discover that kuleana is not a burden, it is a privilege.
Writer/director Brian Kohne (GET A JOB) and producer Stefan Schaefer (ARRANGED, MY LAST DAY WITHOUT YOU) lead an all-star cast and crew on another magical moviemaking adventure. From HAWAI'I CINEMA (in production).
